All,

Spencerville Church’s Social Committee is having a game night this Saturday night in the Fellowship Hall (where we meet for Sabbath School each week). I have gone to these before and they are a lot of fun! You are invited to bring food and games.

Here’s the information shared in the bulletin:

“Story by the Fire” and “An old-Fashioned Adventist Saturday Evening Supper”    Everyone is invited to come for worship, supper, and games this Sabbath evening, January 28, at 5:00 p.m. Bring fruit ready to add to the fruit salad and sandwiches, chips, or cookies. We’ll make the popcorn. Also bring your favorite games. See you there!  Sponsored by the Spencerville Church Social Committee.

None of us like getting into trouble.  However, it happens and it’s not always terribly bad for us .  Many times, given it’s carried out in a constructive manner, it can help us.  This week, we’ll be talking about God’s judgment and how it can reveal his grace.

We hope to see everyone there!

This week in Sabbath School we’ll be talking about something absurd: salvation and Christ as our Redeemer.  That’s right, it’s absurd, but not in the conventional way.  Paul states that the whole situation of the cross is foolishness to the world (1 Cor. 1:18).  Join us this week to weigh in on our discussion and maybe, God willing, uncover some truths about Christ as our Redeemer.

Okay, so since Jen bullied me into moderating against my will, I will be leading Bible study for the first time this Friday! I’m thrilled, let me tell ya. Anyway, I would like to discuss what it means to do God’s work, the various ways of doing God’s work and what it means to put him first in everything we do. In my short time as a Christian, I’ve experienced the static effects of what having a narrow sense of these concepts can lead to, so I would like to model the life of Jesus and try to establish a broader sense of what our mission is on this earth. All of you guys are much more knowledgable on this stuff than I am, so any feedback you’re willing to give will help me a lot. Hope to see you Friday!

For Sabbath School this week, we’ll be examining the literal, six-day creation and what it reveals about God.

We hope to see everyone there!

Lunch at Paul’s House this Sabbath

Happy New Year everyone!

This Sabbath, 7 January, we will be having a luncheon at Paul’s house.  While Paul’s mother did not specifically ask for people to bring food, you are more than welcome to bring a dish, dessert, or drink if you would like.

There is no set time to be there; the official start time is after church.  However, we will probably start eating between 2-230pm.  If you have any questions (such as “What’s Paul’s address?”), you can email spencervillecya@gmail.com .

We hope to see you there! :~)
