Hello Everyone!

Hope you guys are doing well. Last week many of us were out, but I heard many positive comments about the discussion on cloning. Thank you Shawn for leading and hosting and for doing such a great job! Perhaps this should be a topic to revisit 😉

This week I’m hoping to see many of you at Bible Study! Dr. Jim Callan, an elder at our church and big supporter of our group, has kindly agreed to host Bible Study for us. We have been to Dr. Callan’s house for Bible Study in the past as well as YA potluck, and it has always been a pleasure to spend time with him. As a bonus this time, Dr. Callan has also offered to lead our Bible Study discussion; which will focus on Paul. Being that our Sabbath School lesson this quarter is based on the book of Romans, this will be a GREAT opportunity to learn more about its author and his motivation for some of his writing. Sometimes we forget that once upon a time Paul was known as Saul; and that his life and beliefs underwent a 360 degree transformation.

During our discussion, Dr. Callan will give a little background history of Paul’s life and then discuss some of his more controversial statements with emphasis on the context. If anyone has a particular criticism towards Paul or something notable about his life, he encourages us to bring that into the discussion as well.

Suggested Reading

Acts 9:1-31; Ephesians 5 ; 1 Corinthians 7; 1Corinthians 11; 1Corinthians 14 Biography – Compilation ;  Paul’s life timeline ; Sketches from the life of Paul – E.G. WhiteWikipedia on Paul

As always, feel free to bring an appetizer/dessert/drink to share.  Please make plans to come!! =D

God Bless =)
