Bible Study, December 10

Theme: Mysteries of God and the Bible
Topic: Why does God sometimes silent silent or distant?
Location: Chris’s place
Time: 7:oo p.m. snacks and hang out; 7:30, Bible study

Lately, I’ve been reading the book Reaching for the Invisible God by Philip Yancey.  It’s gotten me thinking a lot about the complexities of being a finite, physical human being trying to communicate with God, who is spirit and infinite.  One of the issues Yancey brings up is why God sometimes seems silent.

This Friday I’d like us to talk about why God sometimes seems silent or distant (or maybe absent altogether).  It’s a question I’ve gone back and forth over for years.  I’m pretty sure there isn’t ONE concrete answer to the question, but maybe several that intertwine.  I’ve suggested a few articles below just to get you thinking, but feel free to bring other views, stories, or verses to the table.

Looking forward to seeing you Friday night!
