Beach trip – Sunday July 24th [UPDATE: going on Sat the 23rd]
UPDATE: final details have been sent via email to those that confirmed, if you didn’t get the email but want to join us please let me know ASAP. At this point we’re taking off on Saturday, camp out at Trap Pond State Park, and coming back on Sunday.

What: Being silly at the beach
When: Sunday 7/24/11 (or possibly the whole weekend)
Where: Depends, need your input!
OK, finally. I feel that I’ve been wanting to go to a beach since April 🙂 So the more I looked into going to a beach the more I realized that even though the map makes it seem that we’re on the edge of the greatest beaches in the world, we’re still quite a few hours away from good ones. Here’re the choices I’m considering, if you have other ideas please comment.
Ranked by distance:
Sandy Point State Park: about ~1 hr 15 mins away. Google Map, Yelp review
This is the closest beach/park to us. I’ve been there once, it’s a step up from the typical water-less park, but not a real beach, best for BBQing and just hanging out.
Point Lookout State Park: ~2 hrs 20 mins away. Google Map
The next closest beach to us. I haven’t been there but I heard that it’s a historical site good for leisure activities such as fishing/boating. I don’t think it’s quite a real beach yet.
Bethany Beach: ~3 hrs 30 mins away. Google Map, Flickr images
(Thanks Jen for the tip). It’s getting far but this is the real deal compared to the other choices. Nearby there are also well-known beaches such as Rehoboth Beach and Ocean City so I recommend this one. This does mean that we’ll need to leave earlier. I’m thinking 5am? So we can make up the lost time. Alternatively we can camp out during the weekend, there are a lot of camp grounds nearby.
If you’re interested, let me know your thoughts.

p.s., I think everybody has his/her favorite beach, here’s mine, where I stayed during my vacation in ’06.
p.s., I’m also thinking of going to another beach in Aug/early Sept for a whole weekend. I don’t have the details yet but if you are interested let me know.

I like the idea! I am in.
dont care about the location!! But would vote for Bethany Beach and for camping. Some of us could go camping saturday and stay up to sunday.

Cool, yes we’re going to Bethany. It looks like that all of us will camp out on Sat night, now we just need to figure out the details – camp site, leaving time, who’s driving, tents, etc. The post will be updated no later than Friday w/ finalized details.
