July 22 Bible Study – Why Did Christ Have to Die – Part 2

Topic: Why did Christ have to die? (2nd part)
Where: Jen’s place
When: Friday July 22th, 7pm snack, 7:30pm start

“The central Christian belief is that Christ’s death has somehow put us right with God and given us a fresh start. Theories as to how it did this are another matter. A good many different theories have been held as to how it works; what all Christians are agreed on is that it does work.” CS Lewis.

Why did Christ have to die? Lets debate this central question of Christianity. We will go through some of the different theories (check wikipedia link) that explain why His death was necessary and discuss about their meaning in the light of God’s Character.

And, as Shawn said before: this is going to be a great topic and I feel that we can all walk away learning a great deal, *please* come and join the conversation. And also I would plead with you to read the suggested readings as well as doing your own research to prepare for the discussion so that we can have a fruitful time. See you soon!
