Bible study Aug. 29 – Maintaining Friendships

Our host week this week will be Glaucia Teixeira.  Glaucia works and studies at Washington Adventist University and is a part of the WGTS 91.9 FM Gateway Fellowship team that hosts events on Saturday for the community.  She and I were talking one day about the idea of connecting the Spencerville study group with her Brazilian group one Friday night.  I said sure, it’s all about connecting with others in Bible study and fellowship.  We’ll start at 7:30 PM.  Please feel free to bring an appetizer or drink to share.  Email dmahabee[at]yahoo[dot]com for Glaucia’s address.

Our discussion will be about how to remain connected with others through the power of Christ. In what practical ways do you make time to nourish your friendships?  If this is something you haven’t been doing well, what is one thing you will do in the near future to better cultivate your connections?

Key texts:

“As iron sharpens iron, so a friend sharpens a friend.” — Proverbs 27:17
“Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their toil. For if they fall, one will lift up his fellow”  — Ecclesiastes 4:9-10
“And let us consider how to stir up one another to love and good works, not neglecting to meet together, as is the habit of some, but encouraging one another …” — Hebrews 10:24-25.

Some of the questions we will be exploring include:

– Which friend or friends are in your life to help “sharpen” you?
– How are you actively sharpening others?

So please come this Friday night and let’s see how it goes!
