No Bible study until Feb. 13

January 29, 2015

Hello all,

We are going to be changing formats soon with our Friday night activity, starting on February 13.  We will do two Vespers/studies per month, each held in the Fellowship Hall at Spencerville church.  The programs will be geared toward the 18-38 age range, but will be skewed toward the younger end of that spectrum.  We see this as a great ministry opportunity for those on the older end of the spectrum–a chance for them to give back and build their leadership and mentoring skills.  Food will be graciously provided by the leaders of Spencerville’s Collegiate Sabbath school class.

We’re still finalizing this, but the programs will typically feature a song service, some sort of interactive or icebreaker activity, like a game, skit, or similar, and then a sermonette or presentation by a speaker.

We’d love to have your help putting these programs together.  If any of you is excited by this and wants to help, please let us know!  Your efforts and willingness will be greatly appreciated!

The program dates for February and March are as follows: Feb. 13, Feb. 27, Mar. 13, Mar. 27

Hey Everyone,

Here’s what’s going on during the month of October. I’ve included Spencerville, Arise and New Hope activities. Hope you can attend some of them! 🙂 For questions, you may contact us at

-(Spencerville) YA Sabbath school merging with Collegiate and Youth. Some Spencerville Academy students will be doing a presentation on the Book of Hebrews, that should be quite exciting. We’re meeting in the Fellowship Hall, and we will not be having our regular SS Quarterly study.

(New Hope) Highland Day. The New Hope YA are running a craft booth for the kids in the community from 8am-4pm. Afterwards they’re going to join the hike/maze activity organized by Arise (see below). For more info click HERE

(Arise) Hike/Corn Maze. Hike at Catoctin Mountain at 4pm, followed by Bonfire/Corn Maze at 6:30pm, at Lawyers Farm. Note: you must RSVP on facebook or register online by Wednesday, October 1! Click HERE for detailed information.

(Spencerville) Bible study with Pr. Gary Patterson. Just wanted to give you guys heads up that Pr. Patterson (interim senior pastor at Spencerville) will be moderating Bible study for us on this date. It will be a study on the four Gospels, and it should be great. More details to follow.

(Spencerville) Camping trip at Greenbrier State Park. This is one of my favorite places to camp, and I’m really looking forward to having a last outing before the Winter comes. We’ll have a nice worship service on Sabbath, good food and hiking. Cost will be between $25-35, including meals. More details to follow.

(New Hope) Young Adult Potluck @ 1:30pm. The YA at New Hope Church are having their monthly potluck and they’re extending an invitation to anyone who wants to join. For more details, you can go HERE

(Spencerville) ConneXion @ 5:30 pm. After enjoying a great meal, come join us at ConneXion! This October 22nd will be the 170th anniversary of the Great Disappointment, a key event for the Seventh Day Adventist church. In honor of that, our program will feature Adventist Heritage. Also, you’re more than welcome to stay afterwards for game night and refreshments. ConneXion is turning 1 year old (yay!) so I’ll be making homemade pizza to celebrate 🙂 Spread the word and invite your friends!

(New Hope) Scavenger Hunt in Baltimore @ 11am. The New Hope Church YA are organizing an awesome scavenger hunt and have graciously invited us to join. Should be fun! You can find more information about this event HERE

-(Arise & Potomac Conference) iThirst Spiritual Retreat in Mt. Aetna. The Potomac and Chesapeake Conferences will be joining together for a Young Adult spiritual retreat. Pr. Sonia Perez will be leading attendees into activities aimed at improving our spiritual lives. This is a unique opportunity to have an encounter with God, and meet Young Adults outside our Chesapeake conference. It will be awesome, but space is limited! Please make sure you visit the facebook post HERE for more details and signing up instructions. Cost will be $75 for the weekend, including meals. More information about this event will follow in the next few weeks.

Hi Everyone,

Just wanted to send a reminder that our group is scheduled to participate in a community service activity this coming Sunday, September 28 at Days End Horse Rescue Farm. The weather looks great so far, so it will be a great to be outdoors before the cold days settle in 😉 I hope many of you can join us as this is a  great cause  to support and also to good opportunity to witness about our Seventh Day Adventist church by interacting with members of the community.

I’ll be sending an email soon to finalize details, so if you’re planning to join us but haven’t contacted me yet, please email me at or text me to let me know.

Have an awesome Tuesday 🙂

ARISE Hike and Corn Maze – Oct. 4

September 19, 2014

Hello all:  It’s that time again…the ARISE Hike and corn maze is coming up in two weeks.  I had a great time last year, so I’m pretty excited.

If you haven’t been to a corn maze before, it’s actually quite a lot of fun.  Sounds like kids’ stuff, but I assure you, being in that maze at night can be terrifying.  In a good way, of course.  This particular place (Lawyers Moonlight Maze in Thurmont, MD) has a HUGE, complicated, bewildering maze.  There will be some other stuff to do besides the maze, like a bonfire with food, s’mores, etc.

There’s also an optional hike earlier in the day at Catoctin Mountain Park up near the maze.

If you register by Wednesday, October 1, you’ll get the early bird price of $15.

See you there!
