Church Potluck this Sabbath (4/2)

March 30, 2011

I’d like to encourage all of you to attend the church potluck this weekend, and perhaps even make it a part of your routine.

Potlucks are held the first Saturday of every month in the Fellowship Hall (where we normally meet for Sabbath school).  Breaking bread together–I love that phrase–is a great way for us to bond.  And if we have visitors, it’s much better to invite them to eat rather than send them home right after church.

Of course, if you’re planning to attend, it would be nice if you could bring some kind of food item for the potluck.  I’m thinking if three or four “regular” members bring an entree to the potluck, then that would probably be enough to cover any collegiates/young adults that may want to attend.  We’ll arrange this before each potluck to make sure we’re covered.

I hope you’re all having a great week!

Sleepover – Girls Only!

March 17, 2011

This Saturday night Jen will be hosting a girls-only sleepover at her apartment in Columbia. Dinner will be served buffet-style so bring whatever you would like to eat either for yourself or to share. You can feel free to make use of my kitchen if you’d like to prepare anything special. I will be making chicken pot pie (vegan! yum!) so that will be at least one entree. Lots of variety is encouraged, and so is leaving a comment with what you think you might bring 🙂

As far as activities, if you have something in mind, bring your ideas (and games, etc., if that’s what you want to do) and we can go with whatever the group decides. I played this really fun game recently called The Ungame that I think would be awesome with our group (it’s lots of discussion questions and getting-to-know-you type stuff).

For breakfast I will have waffles, Stripples, and scrambled eggs. Please bring fruit to share (and whatever else you’d like to eat for breakfast) and maybe some extra Stripples? I think I only have one full box.

Bring a sleeping bag or blankets as we will be spreading out around my apartment. I do have a pull out sofa and two twin-size mattresses but feel free to bring your own mattress or ground pad or something if that’s what you’d like.

I’m looking forward to some awesome bonding time! Feel free to invite new people as well, as long as they’re female! Email spencervillecya@gmail.com for address and directions.

Bible Study – February 11 – Valentine’s Outreach Project

February 9, 2011

Theme: Making Cards for the Sick and Shut-In
Place: Apartment of Lerone, Sonia, & Kristina
Time: 7:00pm

Hi All,

This week’s Bible study will not be much of a study, but will be great, nonetheless! We will be making Valentine’s cards to mail to the sick and shut-in members of Spencerville SDA Church. I went out tonight to buy all the hearts, and foam, finger paint, and fancy paper needed to make cute cards packed with love. So all that is required of you is to bring yourself… and maybe a snack or two.

Looking forward to seeing you all!
